    Maria has been centrally involved in the festivals and events sector in Ireland since 2000. She began her career in this sector as CEO of Dublin's St Patrick's Festival and served for many years as Chairman of AOIFE (Association of Irish Festival Events).

    She has successfully produced and marketed over 15 flagship events with a combined audience estimated at 7 million people and a combined proven economic impact of over €300 million.

    Maria’s other credits include the ‘Day of Welcomes' to celebrate Ireland's presidency of the EU in 2004 and the 2004 Bloomsday Centenary.
    She is currently a director of Spraoi the Waterford based professional arts organisation.

    In addition to her involvement in festivals and events she has also worked extensively in rural and community development as a LEADER group CEO, as a freelance consultant and in the European Parliament. She has served on the National Social and Economic Committee (NESC), the Board of the Programme for Peace and Reconciliation, the Board of Area Development Management Ltd (the predecessor of Pobal) , the Board of the International Dance Festival of Ireland and as a judge in the Living Dublin Awards.

    Katie has been working in the Event sector since 2006; she has been heavily involved in all aspects of event marketing, programming, PR, planning and production.
    Among her credits are National Heritage Week, The Derry Clipper Homecoming Festival 2012, The Tall Ships Races Dublin 2012, The Galway Volvo Ocean Race Stopover, The Trim Balloon Fiesta, The Galway Powerboat Festival, The Cork Clipper Festival, Arthur’s Day Galway and the Galway Continental Christmas Market.

    She has experience in marketing, communications, database management and the production of event literature.

    Katie has also worked as a consultant in such areas as the use of social media in business, marketing and market research, as well as statistical analysis and evaluation – focussing primarily on consumer trends, audience behaviour and economic impact.

    She has undertaken market research for various clients including NUI Galway, Galway Music Education Partnership, Claremorris Chamber of Commerce, Killaan Consulting, Bane Mullarkey, ARMC Marketing, Knock Business Association and numerous independent retailers.
