Maria Moynihan Lee
Maria has been centrally involved in the festivals and events sector in Ireland since 2000 beginning her career in this area as CEO of Ireland’s St Patrick's Festival.
In 2009 as Festival Director to the Volvo Ocean Race Stopover in Galway in which she oversaw a two week programme which achieved an attendance of 660,000 She then went on to found Milestone Inventive in 2011 which lists amongst its credits such diverse events as Hope It Rains | Soineann Nó Doineann with Ciotóg Teo; Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival; Galway Christmas Market; “A Nation’s Voice” 1916 Centenary concert; the visits to Ireland of the Clipper Round the World Sailing Race in Cork in 2010 and in Derry in 2012; the Commercial Agency for the visit to Dublin of the Tall Ships Race in 2012 and a number of markets throughout Ireland, including the Temple Bar Saturday Markets for Dublin City Council as well as coordinating the catering provision for the Papal Visit to the Phoenix Park and Knock in 2018.
The combined audiences at all of the events which Maria has successfully produced now exceed 8 million people and their combined proven economic impact is over €300 million.
In addition to her involvement in festivals and events she has also worked extensively in rural and community development as a LEADER group CEO, as a freelance consultant and in the European Parliament. She served for many years as Chairman of AOIFE (Association of Irish Festival Events) and on the board of the Spraoi festival and street arts company in Waterford.
