Galway Christmas Market to open for extended run

IT’S TIME TO GET FESTIVE AGAIN AT CHRISTMAS MARKET GALWAY 2023

PART 1: NOVEMBER 10 TO DECEMBER 22 (amusements to Dec. 24)

THE SEQUEL: DECEMBER 26 TO JANUARY 7, 2023

The Christmas Market Galway opens on Friday the 10th of November, bringing Christmas cheer to Eyre Square right up until Friday the 22nd of December. Our vintage amusements and The View Wheel will continue to operate until Christmas Eve and then On December 26th, a scaled-back
version of the Christmas Market will re-open on both Eyre Sq North and on the Plaza in Kennedy Park.

Now in its 13th year, The Christmas Market Galway will once again fill the city centre with joy, light, and laughter, with over 60 wooden chalets lining the square offering scrumptious seasonal treats and a large variety of crafts.

Food lovers can feast on everything from German Bratwurst, Traditional Crepes, Irish handmade fudge, Chimney cakes and other indulgent confectionery from over 60 traders as well as a range of hot food at the charcoal grills. For those who fancy a sociable tipple, there will be traditional mulled wine and beer served in steins in the Bier Keller. For the perfect Christmas Gift browse among the broad range of Artisan traders showcasing handmade food and crafts.

Festive visitors, kids and adults alike, can get in the Christmas spirit with a visit to Santa plus a spin on both the traditional Carousel and the hugely popular 32m observation wheel, offering a stunning birds-eye view of the lights of Eyre Square, right out to Galway Bay. Back on terra firma, families and friends can enjoy festival games, interact with local charities and stroll through the enchanted light gardens, where a traditional sleigh provides the backdrop for a Christmas Market photo.

Recent research has shown that what visitors rate most highly about the market is the friendliness of staff, the atmosphere, the sense of safety and security and its visual appearance.”

The Christmas Market Galway runs from Friday the 10th  of November to Sunday, January 7th with varying opening days and hours to accommodate the Christmas Holiday period:

1. from Friday the 10th to the 22nd of December, from 12 noon to 10 pm Mondays to Wednesdays, from 10 am to 10 pm Thursdays to Saturdays, and 10 am to 8 pm Sundays (bars til 10 pm every day). 
2. The Bar will be open on Saturday 23rd as will the vintage amusements and The View Wheel (until lunchtime on Sunday 24th December).
3. On December 26th, a scaled-back version of the Christmas Market will re-open on both Eyre Sq North and on the Plaza in Kennedy Park until January 7th. This will include the ever-popular Christmas Market Bar until December 31st.
